With Halloween a little over a month away, it’s time to start thinking about treat ideas besides the candy aisle at the grocery store. My kids love candy. Your kids love candy. But let’s be honest, even if food allergies are not an issue for your kids, having other options besides candy is a win! There are plenty of non-candy treat ideas that can help make Halloween a win for all!
If you aren’t familiar with the Teal Pumpkin Project, the Food Allergy Resource & Education network (FARE) has started a way to show that your home is offering allergy-friendly treats on Halloween: with a teal pumpkin. The pumpkin shows that you have treats that are free of the top 8 allergens, such as DumDum lollipops, or non-candy treats, which is how I prefer to treat my neighbors!
I ordered a collection of treats from Oriental Trading Company and it was delivered to my front porch a few days later. The following items are what I chose – for both Halloween and an allergy-free party in my daughter’s class.
Just be forewarned – my kids cannot keep their hands out of the bucket and I know these treats will go fast on Halloween night!
I also was able to purchase a fake Teal Pumpkin from Oriental Trading. In years past I have painted a pumpkin Teal but I thought having one that would last year to year would be a great addition to our Halloween decor!
Please share this and other ideas for safe treats to your friends and family. I know children like my daughter will thank you when they find some of these and other non-candy treat ideas on Halloween night!
