When I first heard about Essential Oils I was skeptical. I wasn’t sure I believed that they would do anything. But I was also intrigued. Part of me really wanted to try them once I saved up for the starter kit! So, when I was asked to give them a shot, I decided to go for it! Before I tell you about my experience with Essential Oils, let me help answer some of the questions I had with them:
What are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are the life blood of plants. Through a careful steam distillation or cold-press process, these pure oils are extracted for quick and effective results.
What exactly do Essential Oils help with?
Just to name a few: sleeping, seasonal discomforts, cut down the length of colds, boosting immunity, balancing hormones, helping simple cuts and scrapes, and so, so many more!
I started using Essential Oils in December. I began by becoming a member and getting The Starter Kit: 11 Essential Oils, a diffuser, a roller ball bottle, samples, and guides. Becoming a member doesn’t mean you have to sell them or push them on your friends, it just means you get to purchase this starter kit and get a great discount on all future purchases!
A friend sent me this great resource so decided to give diffusing a try:
I was nervous about doing too much so I did half of the recommended drops. I was so pleasantly surprised with how great essential oils are! Here’s what I did and how it turned out:
Since it was mid-December and I wanted everyone to be healthy for the holidays, I started diffusing the Immunity Booster recipe but cut the drops in half: 3-4 drops of Thieves and 2-3 drops of Purification. I know you’re wondering how well that went… well, here’s how the following two months have played out.
- We had company for the holidays. No one was sick.
- We visited family right after Christmas where at least 2 out of the 26 people there were in the early stages of the flu.
- In the following week, at least one member of every one of their families became ill.
- Our family was the only family that DID NOT get sick. Not even a sniffle!
I’ve continued diffusing it on and off. I enjoy the smell and love knowing that I am doing a simple little thing to keep my family sick. Everywhere I turn someone is telling me about how they are just getting over the flu or a virus. We have yet to (and hopefully don’t) get sick past minor things. Like this:
My 2-year old developed a cold on a Monday. That night he coughed so much that he woke himself up a few times during the night. I had a trip planned for the 2 of us involving a plane ride and a visit with my Grandparents that Friday. On Tuesday, I immediately messaged my Oils buddy for advice and she suggested diffusing something in his room. That night I diffused Thieves, Purification, and Peppermint (it seems to help with the cough) in his room. I also put some purification on his feet under his footy pjs. He coughed a few times that night but not as bad as the night before. I repeated it the next night and he didn’t cough AT ALL Wednesday night. He kicked the cold in 3 days, with just an occasional lingering cough that was gone by the end of the weekend.
I tend to get down in the winter. The lack of sun, my hatred of being cold, and being stuck inside so much tend to wear me down by the middle of January. Once all the Christmas decorations are gone, so is my joy. I knew I needed to try something to help with this one. I diffused some Stress Away, Joy, and Peppermint. (Can you tell I really love the peppermint?) It helps me get through the hump of the afternoon through evening without wanting to go climb back in bed and hide from my family.
Some other ways I’ve used my oils: Making peppermint cookies, lemon on a little bump I found on my pinky, making “tea,” lavender to relax and sleep… and this is all just from the Premium Starter Kit – there are so many more oils I haven’t had the chance to experiment with!
Want to give Oils a try? I would recommend getting the Premium Starter Kit first. Remember, it comes with 11 Essential Oils, a diffuser, a roller ball bottle, samples, and guides – everything you need to start testing and trying out oils with your family. You’ll also be connected with great people to walk you through using your oils. I absolutely love it! Here’s the kit:
